Permissions and Communications
Operating a drone at Huka falls and in the vicinity of could compromise safety in terms of Heli Adventures who operate a certificated helipad in the vicinity of Huka Falls. Providing you have Department of Conservation permissions it would be prudent that your proposed activity is communicated to Heli Adventures to avoid potential conflict.
Call Daniel, Base Manager before take off on 027 546 2226 for all Huka falls flights.
Up to 200ft AGL (Pre-approved)
If operating below 200ft AGL, providing permissions from Habourmaster, affected aerodrome operators, DOC and Iwi.
200ft AGL - 400ft AGL (Not approved without NOTAM and permission)
If operating above 200ft AGL requires a NOTAM and local frequency 118.4 to be monitored, this is a local rule due to low level flying activity in the Taupo region and will be up to the associated aerodrome to issue the NOTAM.
